Our design, which was unanimously awarded first prize by the jury from among 22 submissions in a competition and recommended for realisation, forms the planning basis for the current and future development of the municipal clinic. It was on this basis that we conducted target planning for the entire clinic, which in turn leads to the individual phases of construction.

The 2nd phase of construction (partial new construction, east building) sits in the eastern section of the clinic site. It encompasses preparatory activities (e.g. the construction of an interim building) and the main construction project, consisting of demolition, new construction, renovation, conversion of existing structures and outdoor facilities. The guiding principle of the design is the crosswise overlay of the hospital’s historical north-south axis from 1901 with the new main hallway (west-east), which joins the old main building to the new west and east buildings on three levels.
